Our sweet baby girl made a surprise entrance - 8 weeks early!

Even though she has to spend a few weeks in the neonatal intensive care, we are so happy to have her here! She is beautiful and some people say she looks like me :) That's a compliment I'll take any day! I'll be taking a bit of a blog maternity leave, but I'll be back soon. Polyvore for Nursery Inspiration

I love Polyvore for fashion inspiration but I didn't realize it could be such a valuable tool for nursery planning! I played around with it last week before shopping in Charlotte this weekend. It really helped me figure out what I wanted to buy!

Here's what I have in mind so far for the baby girl:

{left to right, top to bottom}

4. Ikea Hemnes Dresser {with new drawer pulls, of course}

5. Carousel Designs Shabby Chic Chenille Bedding

To give you an example of how Polyvore helped in this process, look at this board when I was considering the Ikea Edland dresser instead of the Hemnes dresser in white. Having it all together helped me see that the dark dresser just wasn't working!

Anyway, things are looking a little different than my first round of inspirational images {here}, but still very pink :) I returned our houndstooth fabric because it just wasn't fitting in with the whole vibe. Sad day. Hopefully I can bring in a few houndstooth details in with other accessories.

The end result should be very "Carousel Designs Inspired." I fell in love with their Shabby Chic Chenille Bedding shortly after getting pregnant. I think the paper lanterns make it so fun!

Even though the collection is way out of my price range, we were able to buy the floral fabric directly from Carousel Designs which will make for a darn good knock-off version. {so far I've finished the crib comforter and it is PERFECT!} Since the rest of the fabrics in this collection are solid pinks & whites, I grabbed them at JoAnn Fabrics for a steal. I anticipate we'll have about $150 in the bedding once all is said & done... compared to $350+ if I bought it pre-made from Carousel Designs.

It's starting to come together, which makes this mama very happy!!! :)

Oh - and my grandma made this ABC cross-stitch 20+ years ago for my childhood bedroom. It's going to be perfect in the nursery! Thanks Grandma!

We purchased the nursery fabric last night! I just love it so much, I've got to share a sneak peek with someone/everyone in my phonebook/strangers in the grocery store......

Pink floral, light pink ruffles, polka dots, some soft "minkies" and a pop of brown houndstooth. Hopefully, when all is sewn and done, the nursery will look like a hybrid of these inspirations...

My friend Ashley had the cutest baby shower to welcome her little girl, Saylor Jane. One of my favorite details was thought up by Saylor's Aunt Lindsey, and cute grandma, Pippa...."Sweet Saylor's Closet".

They turned a regular coat rack into the cutest display for all the baby girl clothes that Ashley received. And if you've been to a baby shower for a little girl, you know it can be A LOT! As she was opening gifts, her lovely assistants hung up the outfits. It was so fun for us guests to see everything up close. Try it at your next shower!

Whatever you want to call it, guys are doing it.

These celebrations can be huge blowouts -- a trip to Vegas or Mexico -- or a simple fishing or golf trip, barbecue or cigar party. It all depends on the guy. We’ve heard the festivities can include a baby bottle beer-drinking contest (really), or even better, the dad-to-be buys a keg and each guy who attends brings his “entry fee” -- a pack of diapers -- in order to partake.

Know anyone who has done something like this? I love the diaper admission fee idea :) Could I throw one for my own husband? Or would that be tacky? I'm due mid February so if I'm up for it, I'm thinking of maybe a SuperBowl Dadchelor Party at my house... That food looks pretty good to Mom right now too...

New things in my world as of this week...

1. Can't find my camera charger so all of the follow pictures are from my iPhone...

2. Bear is rockin' a new collar :) Go VOLS!

3. I totally purchased the Emily font from Jones Design Company. $0.99. Um duh!

Isn't her handwriting amazing?! Obviously, since she has a font made after it. I typed up my fav Bible verse {Galatians 2:20} and traced it with a Sharpie onto an empty dollar store frame. Looks kinda cute backed with Amy Butler scrapbook paper?

Buy the Emily font here! Or if you just want to copy this little project, I've uploaded a PDF of this verse here. You can download it for free :) But seriously, you should get the font. It's worth every penny!

4. I finished my table skirt {!!!!!!!!!!} for the folding table I talked about buying way back in this old post. Here is a picture of the wall before:

The fabric is Robert Allen @ Home St. Etienne Lapis No lie, it took me forever. I am pleased with the result though! I purchased 6 yards and have plenty left over for a few throw pillows.

<$150 bucks for this "custom" table that I can hide anything under? Priceless in my opinion!
